Description

The GE300 from MOOER is the flagship multi-effect instrument processor. By combining the well-received Micro Preamp series, TONE CAPTURE instrument matching technology, tri-voice polyphonic synthesizer module, and a wide-range of guitar effects and tools, the GE300 embellishes every single motive for creation from your mind with nuanced details.

The GE300 contains dual-DSP processors delivering the fastidious detailed characterizes of every delay, reverb, modulation or amp model inside. Thanks to the intuitive and simple UI, controls, and connection ports, the GE300 is an all-in-one working station for musicians whether in a live situation, at home, or in the studio.

SYNTH

With the synth module, your instrument will be transformed into an electronic synthesizer without the need for special pickups or instrument modifications, allowing you to spark your creativity with more possibilities.

As you can see from the diagram, the SYNTH ENGINE has 3 independent voices with their own parameters for waveform, pitch, attack, level, filter and arpeggiator. The signal path from the instrument input is split and routed directly to the front of each synth voice so they remain completely parallel and independent from one another. The thru dry signal can also be mixed parallel to the entire synth effect block, so you can opt for synth only or mix it with your guitar signal.

TONE CAPTURE is an intelligent learning and comparison engine that can be used to create your very own digital models by sampling real-life equipment.

The GE300 is the only MOOER product that features three different TONE CAPTURE modes.

AMP & STOMP MODE can be used to sample your favorite stomp box or amplifier. This can then be applied to an existing amp or drive pedal model within a preset to transform it into your sample.

GUITAR MODE allows you to capture the EQ characteristics of your instrument. Have you ever found yourself searching for a single instrument that has all the different guitar sounds you need? Be it classic country twang, warm ballsy blue tones, the funkadelic “4-position”, tight thrashing djent, Piezo acoustic-electric - GUITAR MODE can sample any guitar, provided it has some form of pickup, and create a detailed digital guitar model using MOOER’s proprietary non-linear IR technology.

CAB MODE allows you to create your own Impulse Response models of speaker cabinets to use instead of using the CAB effect block already installed on the GE300.

108 PREAMPS

GE300 has 108 digital amp models that utilize MOOER’s non-linear amp modeling technology. Each model has been designed based on samples taken directly from real-life tube amplifiers. It is not only the accurate recurrence of the original amps’ tone but also the dynamics and feel of a real tube amp.

IR LOADER

43 IR based factory speaker cab models with 20 user slots to load in your favorite 3rd party IR files. (Up to 2048 sample pts)

30 MIN LOOPER

30 minute capacity loop station with undo/redo, direct dubbing, reverse + 1/2 time effects. Looper sessions can be stored and backed up for import /export of audio files. Recall that new song idea you had any time, or load in your favorite backing tracks to jam along with!

MIDI

MIDI IN/MIDI OUT/THRU with easy mapping and external ctrl switching to control your other pedals and amps.

AUDIO

Direct, low latency USB audio lets GE300 double up as a digital audio interface and become a “one-stop-shop” solution for recording guitar. Apart from that, editor software on computer makes it an all in one working station. Firmware update via USB available.

After playing around with the Mooer GE300 for a couple of weeks now & getting the hang of how things work, I think this is a really cool Guitar processor/modeler that actually offers a lot of bang for the buck. I'm not really into FX processor's & mainly play tube/solid state amp's & cabs. This is the first decent one I've bought since I bought my Boss GT-6 in the early 2000's & it's obvious that the technology has come a long way since then. Apart from sounding way more realistic (the feel, sensitivity and the tone's are easily comparable to a real amp), the huge bonus for me is how intuitive this unit is to use unlike my old Boss processor that I could never really get the hang of and so it ended up being almost unused for the last 15+ years. Presets in the Mooer GE300 are really decent/usable out of the box, most sound great, a few are more average, but a little basic editing is sometimes required to make them really shine (and shine they do!). Thankfully this is a relatively easy multi-fx unit to tweak and editing presets or making your own from scratch is quite simple/painless. I found the GE300's included IR's to be very usable, but you can load your own 3rd party IR's as well which do make a difference for the better. The 'Tone Capture' feature works extremely well & I've captured the tone of a few of my tube amp's tone's with excellent results. There's practically no difference between the real amp & the 'captured' tone. They are 95% - 99% identical. I was shocked at how well it worked! The Synth engine is also excellent and sounds very massive & dynamic. I could find a lot of great-sounding practical uses for it despite being a guitarist who doesn't have any experience with & doesn't play any keyboards/synth at all. The looper sounds and works great, modulation & delay's/reverb's etc are of uniformly high quality, build quality is excellent with all connectors, switches and knobs having a very nice sturdy feel to them. The finish is also fantastic...nothing to complain about there. To sum it up this is an excellent unit despite it being a bit pricier than you would expect from a relatively new & less established Chinese company like Mooer. Sound-wise I find the tones to be less plastic-y & 'processed-sounding' (ie. they sound more realistic) than a lot of the other more well known/established multi-fx units you hear all over Youtube these days. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone looking to buy a decent multi-effects processor that, if you tweak it right, (imo) sounds as good if not better than anything out there, regardless of price. Finally, here's a short/quick playthrough with a couple of unedited guitar & synth presets that I recorded after spending just a few hours with the GE300. No post production/multi-tracking etc, just an improvised solo going straight into Reaper using the Mooer's own onboard usb interface: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyFqfqXTbSw https://soundcloud.com/destinedtofester/mooer-ge300-test-3-synth-usb-recording (.wav) Also have to mention the great service from stompbox.in. It was well-packed with safe, hassle-free & timely delivery ....reached me in perfect condition ...thank you!
